Since the 1980s, Melfort Village has been one of the most successful Cottage Membership villages in Scotland.
Choose your own piece of our paradise with Cottage Membership of one of our 4-Star cottages & enjoy a yearly break with family & friends. Our 4 star cottages are available for permanent ownership as well as 5 or 10 year “Membership”.
If you choose to purchase ownership or membership with Melfort Village, exchanging a week is easy through one of the two exchange companies which we work with, RCI and 7Across. RCI has been established for many years and is probably the leading exchange company although expensive to join and is not always successful in achieving UK exchanges. 7Across has been established for a shorter period of time, previously operating under the name Dial an Exchange, but we find them excellent to work with, affordable and can usually assist with UK exchanges.

Membership Facts

Melfort Village is owned and managed by The Melfort Club, being the association of Melfort cottage owners, which was formed in 1983. Each cottage owner has a direct say in the way the Village is run, through a professionally qualified Committee elected from the membership.
The Melfort Club is run by a small Committee of up to nine elected members. Each member serves for a three year term and retires on rotation. Any member can put their name forward to become a Committee member and elections are held at the AGM which is usually held in April of each year. - Although all original cottages were fully sold-out by the end of 1995 and no further development is planned, The Melfort Club offers a successful Re-Sale Programme.
- We have many members of long standing who enjoy their holidays with us every year and who look upon Melfort Village as their “second home”.
- Others enjoy the benefits of Melfort’s high value with the exchange companies (being an RCI Gold Crown Resort and a much sought after 7Across destination). We also operate a rental programme which further enhances members’ options for use.
- There are a total of 1,600 Cottage Membership weeks and about 1,200 members, as some own multiple weeks. Ownership is either permanent which means it is classed as heritable property and means that you are a member of The Melfort Club until such time as you sell or transfer your ownership or fixed term which means that you own the week for a set period of time, either 5 years or 10 years.
- The maintenance fees are set by our Committee annually and typically, there is an increase every year roughly in line with inflation (although the actual figure is more dependent on the projected running costs for the year ahead). You also pay for the electricity costs for your week’s holiday (although if it is rented or exchanged then it is paid by the guests), fuel for fires and stoves, and pet charges.

You will own your week in perpetuity but will have the option to exit after 25 years.

The property is heritable so may be passed on to children as part of your estate or resold by The Melfort Club.

Permanent members will receive a share of any residual value if the club is ever sold.

10 Year Membership

Watch the family grow up with an annual holiday to Melfort Village, perfect for young parents or grandparents.

Friends & family can use your week if you can’t come for any reason.

5 Year Membership
